Why OHHO

Thai has a word for every shade of surprise

Thai is a high-context language. It carries a whole set of interjections for shades of feeling that other languages need a sentence for.

A few Thai interjections and what they carry

โอ้โห OHHO is a Thai expression of surprise and delight, the sound you make before you've had time to think. Thais use it constantly: for a plate of food, a view, a hidden corner of the city, anything that beats expectations. This campaign invites locals to say it out loud and share their own home moments, so everyone else can say it with them and get to experience a little real Thai life too.

A wow moment, a secret place, or an experience in Bangkok that pulls the word out of you the second you see, taste, or step into it. It reads differently for every creator.

How to enter

Four steps to your OHHO Moment

Two minutes once your video is posted.

  1. Step 1

    Film it.

    30 to 60 seconds. A hidden gem, a view, a dish, a night out: the Bangkok moment that made you say OHHO. Your style, your phone.

  2. Step 2

    Post it.

    Post on your public TikTok or Instagram Reels with both hashtags, then follow and tag us there. Keep the post and your account public until winners are announced. If you're shortlisted from a TikTok post, we'll ask you to post it on Instagram too, so it can go in the vote.

  3. Step 3

    Enter it in the app.

    Open Ohana, tap the OHHO banner, paste your video link and the @username you posted from. That's your entry.

Judging and rules

How it is judged

Step one, the top nine
After entries close, the Ohana team picks the nine videos that best capture Bangkok and fit the brief. Creativity beats follower count.
Step two, three heats
The nine go into three heats of three, drawn at random on our Stories. Each heat is a carousel post with a poll on @ohanadotworld (Instagram), one heat a day, each poll open for three days. The top entry in each heat goes through. We share every heat on TikTok too, but the Instagram poll is the vote that counts.
Step three, the final
The three heat winners plus one wildcard meet in a final post and poll. The wildcard is the non-winner with the highest share of votes in their heat. The final poll runs three days and decides 1st, 2nd and 3rd. We record the results when voting closes. One entry, one prize.
Every entry gets seen
We repost every valid entry on Ohana's page with your name on it, so views and likes count to you. We close the contest with a carousel featuring and tagging every entry.

Who can enter

  • Creators and the general public, no follower minimum.
  • Thai nationals, or foreigners whose main residence is Thailand.
  • 18 or over when you enter.
  • Not Ohana staff, contractors or their families.

The rules

  • Your video, filmed in Bangkok, never posted before. Nothing that infringes anyone else's rights, including the music.
  • Post it public, tag us, use both hashtags. Keep your account and post public, with reposts on, until winners are announced.
  • No bought likes, views, comments or poll votes, no bots, no click farms. Anything irregular means disqualification, no exceptions.
  • Unlimited entries, each a different video.
  • By entering you let Ohana repost and feature your video for the contest.
